Beware of Robbery!

I write this with no intention whatsoever to spread fear and cause worry and chaos but to serve as a reminder to everyone of us. This is no joke! It is a true tragic and traumatic experience suffered by one of my colleague. She and her 3 other housemates were robbed on the very early morning of 5 March 2008 while they are preparing themselves to work; in their own house.

2 robbers (said to be Chinese), one with a pistol; another with a knife broke into their rented house at Maluri. All 4 of them were tied up. Their valuable belongings including but not limited to cash, handphones and jeweleries were taken with force. The robbers further took their ATM cards and credit cards; forced them to reveal the pin numbers and threaten to leave a bullet or two inside their head should the pins furnished are fake and/or false.

While one of the robbers guard the 4 with a pistol on hand, the other went to the nearest ATM machine to withdraw any single cent that is available in those accounts. The 2 then went off without releasing the 4 poor girls. My said colleague is now suffering from traumatic experience and still under great fear. It was lucky that she and her housemates were not raped or seriously injured.

They then went to lodge a police report. It is disgraceful that the police officer merely warn them to be extra careful next round. I must say that it is very common to hear such a remark - "lain kali berhati-hatilah sikit". If that is so; and indeed it is, it comes to no surprise that crime is widespreading in our country.

I am however minded to suggest the following precautions:-

  1. Be extra careful while you are at any parking bay even when the lights are brightened on and crowds nearby you. Should you see someone (don't be deceived by the look, race, size, age and sex) following you from afar, or standing somewhere nearby your car; purportedly making a phone call, looking for something, please immediately leave the place/return to the shopping mall or places with crowds instead of approaching your car. Only go to your car when there is nobody nearby your car and nobody following you at a close distance. Once you are in your car, don't bother to start the engine or warming up the engine at the first place. Remember the first thing that you MUST do when you get into your car is to lock the door with no delay. Start the engine only when your door has been locked. This tip is useful to avoid stranger(s) from entering your car. Likewise, when you reached certain destination, please ensure that there is nobody suspicious nearby your car before you stop the engine and unlock the door.
  2. Be extra careful when you reached your house's doorstep (especially for those who stay at condo, apartment of flat house). Should you see some unfamiliar faces standing near to your doorstep or your neighboring doorstep, it is advisable that you don't enter your house. Cause some delay by walking away to the car park, nearby shops or park. Immediately lock your front door once you are in your house. Do not safe your pocket from high quality equipped with extra securities devices door lock.
  3. Don't open your door for unfamiliar faces or stanger(s).
  4. If you see a or some poor face(s) waiving at you for a ride while you are driving, don't bother to stop. Be cruel instead. Kind people always taken for a ride!
  5. It is also advisable that you should have several bank accounts. Do not hold with you or the best is do not apply for an ATM card for account(s) that has substantial amount of saving. Park your money (for substantial amount) in a "non-ATM" account.
  6. Be extra careful and don't entertain unfamiliar faces or stanger(s) that is trying to approach you; even when you are at crowded places.
I hope the aforesaid tips are handy. Remember! Protect yourself, the police can't serve better than that you can do for yourself. Look might be deceiving, do not place much trust and confidence on look. Let us making sure, so far as we are able to do so; that our surrounding is safe for living!

LCCT Malaysia

The time now is 11.30am. I am now at LCCT, sitting at McDonalds enjoying my Prosperity Beef Foldover while waiting for AK5208 to take off to Kuching at 12.55 noon. I have been using KLIA for couple of years and today is my first day utilizing Low Cost Carrier Terminal or known as LCCT.

This low cost terminal is specifically built at KL International Airport to cater to the growing passengers of the Low Cost Airlines, especially the passengers of Malaysia's first 'no-frills' airline, Air Asia. LCCT located 20km away from the KLIA main terminal building. Construction of the LCCT was on a fast track basis beginning June 2005 at an approximate cost of RM 108 million. LCCT was opened on the 3rd day of March 2006 and fully in operation on the 26th day of the same month and year.

What can I say about LCCT? LOW COST CARRIER TERMINAL - the name tell the whole story! Its terminal facilities and amenities are very basic with a single floor operation area. Hence, you can forget about seeing travellators, escalators and aerobridges. I can hardly find any good restaurant around here. The WIFI that I am using now is quite slow. I don't see ample of seats provided for public inside, what more outside the terminal. Lots of people standing with their huge luggage. The washrooms are a litle bit dirty and produce some uncomfortable smells. Car park however is quite spacious.

Well, Low Cost Carrier! What do you and can you expect. Low cost means everything is basic. Let not talk more about it, hopefully improvement can be seen periodically. I guess I have to go now. I will have to board the aircraft soon. See ya!

The Journey of Life

I have been walking for the past 26 years and here I am, still pulling my leg; step by step, attempting to walk through the journey of life towards the end. When will I reach the finishing line? When I supposed to stop pulling my leg? Hold a minute! Is there any finishing line at the first place? Some say the journey of life is no ending. I must depart from such view. The journey must end when you stop breathing. You then can tell that the finishing line is there. Having decided so, the next curiosity is when will you stop breathing? You can almost decide that you have stop breathing when HE put His Arms around you and whisper to you "please come with me". There is however no certainty when HE will whisper to you. Age, illness and injury just can't tell. Some heard the whisper just untimely and some have waited for it many many years. Obviously you can't reject HIS invitation. Just before you step forward, pulling your leg to follow HIM, spend some times to recall what have you achieved throughout the journey of life that you had walked through. Never proud of what you had achieved, it is not permanent; even if, surely not the the perfect one. Also, never regret what you have not achieved, you can't seek for extension of time to achieve it. More important, never reluctant to leave behind your achievements, be it monetary or assets because you commence your journey with nothing, and you are not supposed to bring along with you anything when you would have to leave. So, leave behind everything, follow HIM without hesitation. You don't need it in your next journey anyway. Come with clean hand, leave with clean hand as well. Don't just leave behind you merely dust! So, why seeking for too many wealth throughout your journey of life? You don't need it anyway once HE invited you to follow Him. Even if you need it, can you carry all along with you? How then you want to fit it into that "tiny box"? I have in many occasions seen that "tiny box" fitted with lots of money and jeweleries. Sadly but truly, none is genuine! Suffice if you have what you need, perhaps with a little more extra. Again, live the simple, but not the simplest way!

My 1st Posting!

Calvin is now on the blog! Perhaps this is how I start by dropping a few lines here.

I have not think of any topic to post yet but let me just start my 1st posting by welcoming those who is and will be reading this blog sooner or later. If you don't like the way I put my words in this blog, hit the "comment"'s link and drop your line of words as I welcome any kind of comments, suggestions and criticisms. They said it is all about freedom of speech and expression and I agree with them. So, here I am; putting down my words according to the way I prefer. Who cares! If you don't like the way I put it, leave this blog or hit the "comment"s link. I just don't care which one you want to opt to. Sounds arrogance? I sound like one but if you know me better, it tells the whole story! Lift the veil to see a person's personality. His or her words somehow just deceiving; yet human tends to believe and rely on words.

Most of the times, I just don't get it-human behavior. I try to understand, but some of my attempts failed. So, I call it "variety" so that I would not get confused. Yes, variety! It has to be so or everything will look, feel and sound alike. Where is the fun then, isn't? Life is just complicated, so put it as simple as you can. Why crack your head trying to seek for more complication? Live the more simple, but not the simplest way. Everything should be fine. Don't create havoc, don't run into others' parade, don't hate your enemy, don't involve in drugs, don't drink and drive, don't rely to much on others. You will be fine.

I guess I should stop. 1st posting shouldn't be too lengthy. See you in my next posting! May peace, happiness and success always be with everyone of you. Take care of yourself, your family and your possessions.
